Our ingredient policy
You will find details of the ingredients used in each product on the relevant product page in the Shop section of the website together with a plain-English explanation of what each one is and why we have included it. We never make spurious claims about our ingredients or products.
What we mean by ‘natural’
Manufacturers have discovered that words such as ‘natural’, ‘organic’ and ‘herbal’ sell products, even when those products are laced with manmade, synthetic chemicals.
At Wild & Precious when we say ‘natural’ we mean a product made from plant-derived ingredients such as herbs, oils, waxes, tinctures and butters and which have undergone no (or very minimal) processing.
We also use the term where we employ minerals such as Kaolin (a clay) or Bicarbonate of Soda (which is a salt).
We do not use any synthetic, highly processed ingredients in any of our products.
All our products are suitable for vegetarians.
Herbs and other plant derived ingredients can be very powerful. We are fully compliant with EU health and safety regulations. We employ a medical herbalist to check our formulas for any hidden health risks.
About our plant-based preservatives
Many products that we offer do not need preservatives. However, there are some products which, by law, must have a preservative added. We use as little preservative as possible to meet the regulatory requirements. Our preservatives are derived completely from plant-based ingredients, which include a small amount of benzyl alcohol. The percentage of benzyl alcohol (often referred to as a ‘good’ alcohol) used is well below permitted levels and – more to the point, as we have little faith in the regulators – it is much too small to carry any of the risks associated with putting alcohol on the skin. If you have any questions about our ingredients or finished products, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
